This is a 10-15 minute tutor time session for PSHE which covers the definitions and an introduction to Prevent, Extremism, Radicalisation and Terrorism. It was originally for a Year 7 PSHE session for tutor time but is suitable for all of KS3 and KS4 and can be used as an introduction lesson to my other Extremism assembly resource which goes into more detail. This resource has two downloaded video clips so they will never disappear and contains discussion activities and no written activities. This is a great introduction to the terms used in PSHE or Citizenship for Extremism.

This is a 10-15 minute presentation that explores facing challenges. This was originally a Year 7 PSHE tutor time session but could be used as a whole school assembly for students aged 11-18, KS3-KS5, Years 7-13. It talks about Sadio Mane as a role model for facing challenges and explores the best way for students to face challenges in their lives. It has a downloaded video which will never disappear and contains discussion activites and no written tasks.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE or whole school session which is fully narrated and designed for Upper KS2, KS3, KS4 & KS5 (Ages 9-18, Years 5-13). It outlines: What anger is What the symptoms of anger are Strategies to control your anger 2 downloaded video clips that will never disappear giving more coping strategies Things you should not do when you are angry and things you should try to do instead 2 case studies for students to discuss as a class what the two students should do in their situations concerning anger management How to access support for anger management (this is specific to Birmingham, West Midlands but can easily be adapted to anywhere else) There are discussion questions and quotes to aid discussion and these can be turned into written activities if you want to make this session last a whole lesson. There are two downloaded video clips that will never disappear and it is narrated although you can delete this by just deleting the icon on each slide if you would prefer. This session contributes to ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the new Relationships & Sexual Education and Health Education. It also highlights Safeguarding, British values and can be used as part of the PSHE curriculum. It can easily be adapted if needed but covers all the necessary guidance. Pupils have responded very well to this presentation in the past and I have updated it for this year.

This 15 minute assembly is focused on what rights people have in the UK. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Grades 6-12, Years 7-13) and can be used as an assembly, a PSHE or Citizenship tutor time session or is easily lengthened to last a whole lesson. This is a 15 minute presentation about blood donation to encourage students to think about donating when they are older and the current need for blood in the NHS. It covers statistics, quotes from donors and their recipients as well as reasons why blood donation is important. It has two short video clips that engage the students well in learning about this important health issue and are downloaded so they will never disappear! There are discussion questions but no written tasks as this is meant for a quick overview in tutor time or similar. It can be shortened or lengthened according to the length of the session. This covers the new RSE and Health Curriculum statutory guidance and can be used in PSHE or Citizenship lessons as well. This is suitable for KS3, KS4, KS5 and possibly KS2. Ages 9-18.

This is a 10-15 minute tutor time resource about COP26. It could be used for an assembly or PSHE/Citizenship session. It explains what COP26 is, what climate change is and gives some more information about why it is called COP etc. There are many discussion tasks and these could be written tasks if you wanted to lengthen it to a whole lesson. There is a short video that is downloaded so it will never disappear and there are some links for further study or extension work. It includes a link to British Values, the UN Rights of a Child and includes reflection and extension slides containing interesting quotes and debates. This is most relevant for the end of October and November 2021 when COP26 is taking place in Glasgow. This was originally a Citizenship tutor time session for KS3, KS4 and KS5 and is suitable for all year groups (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). This gives great overview of some of the issues involved in climate change and COP26.

This is a 10-15 minute introduction to adoption and fostering. It is suitable for an assembly or for tutor time in KS3 - KS5 (ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and was originally a PSHE tutor time session for Year 11 but could be lengthened easily to fit a whole lesson. This covers the definitions of adoption and fostering, the process and law involved and the reasons why some people choose to adopt or foster children. This is a 15 minute assembly or tutor time PSHE session about plastic pollution. It is suitable for KS3-KS5 students (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13) and fits into the PSHE, Citizenship curriculum and addresses the very important current issue of damaging the environment. This explains what plastic pollution is and how we can minimise waste as an individual and as a society. It gives practical suggestions on how to stop plastic pollution and allows students to have some interesting discussions about why it is hard to recycle all plastics that we buy. There is a short downloaded video clip that will never disappear.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly that focuses on the issue of stereotyping. It was originally a Year 7 (Ages 11-12) tutor time PSHE session but it is suitable for an assembly for KS3-KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18). It has some discussion activities and some downloaded videos that will never disappear! It could easily be lengthened to a whole PSHE lesson if needed. It includes: What stereotyping, discrimination and prejudice mean with examples Why it is unacceptable behaviour inside and outside of school Whether we are too quick to judge people or not Stereotyping in the media with girls and boys toys Plenary including a quote from Martin Luther King and a reflection discussion This fits into the PSHE curriculum, Fundamental British Values, SMSC and reflection activities for tutor time. Students reacted very positively to this session.

This is a 10-20 minute assembly about Brexit which is suitable for KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It was originally a year 7 tutor time Citizenship session which was very successful. It includes two downloaded video clips that will never disappear, some discussion questions and a quiz as a plenary to check understanding. It includes: What Brexit means What the EU is What happened on Brexit Day What happened after Brexit and what needed to be decided as a country. It also includes a discussion plenary about how Brexit affects them. This fits into the Citizenship scheme of work, Fundamental British Values, SMSC and PSHE. It can easily be lengthened to last a whole lesson. It has no written activities but should last between 10-20 minutes depending on the length of discussion in your class.

This is a 10-15 minute assembly about foreign aid which is suitable for KS3-KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13). It fits with the Fundamental British Values, SMSC, PSHE & Citizenship curriculums and was originally a PSHE tutor time session for Year 9. It contains: What foreign aid is Where the UK’s foreign aid goes Why we give aid How much the UK gives in foreign aid What sort of aid the UK gives A video about where foreign aid goes A video about the government’s decision to cut foreign aid in November 2021 The videos are downloaded so will never disappear and there is a thinking task at the end. This resource does not contain any written tasks, just discussions but can easily be adapted to last a whole lesson if required. Students responded very well to this presentation and lots of interesting and useful discussions were had as a result of this session.

This is a 20 minute session which can be used as an assembly, a PSHE or Citizenship tutor time session or could be easily shortened and it can easily last 60-90 minutes if required focusing on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia (originally created on 30th January 2022 but fully updated on 25th February 2022). It was originally being used for a Citizenship tutor time News session. This is suitable for KS3 - KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13, Grade 6-13).
